3 myths about Google…You said "myths", right?

Google officeHere are the 3 myths making the mystery around Google all the more sustainable:

- There already exists Google Ventures, its investment arm worldwide.

- Google has been pursuing a gigantic brick-and-mortar quest: building a worldwide network of underground dark fiber optics.

- Google is secretly preparing a thin-client accessible operating system. Basically, the Google OS would be a browser-powered competitor of MS Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

Right or wrong? Odd man out? Your call!

Yes. Sure. What else ? it’s their future… The logical progression.

I think it’s proven that they have acquired (not built) lots of that “dark fiber” in US as of lately.

It is also known that Google has their own Linux distribution inside Google, but they have no intentions to distribute it outside. And, well, why should they?

As for Google Ventures, never heard anything about it. Considering they want to do stuff themselves, I’d think this is internal stuff too.

  3. Myth 1: very likely, though they would never call it that.

Myth 2: no idea, though services = servers = infrastructure

Myth 3: judging by their other ventures, it’s possible, though far from ready. By thin-client, I suppose you mean a vnc-like web-based desktop-app which can be run from anywhere without installing software? Since Google is making it’s move into enterprise-services, it’s very likely that this would also be their target-market for it.

  4. Love Google.

  5. [...] [...]
