EMC & Dell renew their partnership in storage to fight against HP & IBM

EMC DellEMC is a world leader in the storage business but its market share having recently gone down (see post about IBM’s rising market share here), EMC and Dell have renewed their partnership in storage.

For 5 years now, Dell and EMC have been doing a great job cross-selling high end storage solutions to corporations ranging from small businesses to Fortune 100 players.

EMC deals with solution architecture (EMC is by far number 1 in SAN ie Storage Area Network) and supply issues, Dell with distribution and support.

Both companies have extended their joint venture for five more years starting from now. Making such a decision actually was a no brainer since Dell-EMC had sold 34,000 storage systems to 10,000+ clients in just half a decade.

For those who feel like doing some research, the storage industry is a very interesting competitive forces live case study…
