Looking for effective Mac software
I will write very soon a review of working on a Macbook pro (I’ll have had it for one week this Tuesday). In the time between, I need advice from you: what are the best Mac software you use?
So far, I’ve installed MS Office, Norton Antivirus, Firefox, Parallels, Windows NT, Ubuntu, Eclipse & iTunes. I’m planning to get very soon:
- a UML free plug-in for Eclipse
- a good video broadcasting software, I’m thinking of VLC Media Player of course (since I’m studying at Centrale Paris and this project was born on this very campus);
- a free mindmapping software, my friend and blogger Vincent van Wylick suggests I use either Conceptdraw, Mindmanager or Omnigraffle;
- A good unzipping software, Vince, him again, uses The Unarchiver.
- Bleezer as a desktop client blogging software, but it’s not as good as Windows Live Writer I used to blog from on my HP laptop.
And that’s it so far.
Your input most welcome: which software do you use? Any recommendation? Safari or Mozilla (I prefer the latter)? Mail or MS Entourage? etc. Any bad or great experience? Needless to say, as a student, I’m keener on using free software, unless it really really rocks (like MS Office).
