Concerning the 3D thing, it is the possibility of seeing the glasses in 3D I was talking about, even if the rest of the application is not 3D: http://fr.techcrunch.com/2007/04/13/coup-doeil-sur-youarethemodel/

So, join us if you're so jealous. The door is opened.

About FittingBox / YouAreTheModel (it's not 3D!): feel free to contact him on my behalf and tell him you'd like him to present @ eBay. I'm sure there are a thousand applications of the FittingBox technology @ eBay.

So actually you must love youarethemodel.com! Unfortunately I haven't met Benjamin at HEC, but the application is amazing, I have even presented it at eBay, you can tell him!

Btw, I have a little geek side too: I have spent my whole afternoon looking at the demos of Microsoft Surface, it is just awesome, I was kind of jealous to think that you are working in such an innovative company...!!

Thx girl, it’s good to have an online shopping expert at last on this blog. Let’s try to get away from the geeky attitude.

Just to answer your question in your post: I’d like to find, choose & compare products online in a 3D environment.

Concerning LTU, you are perfectly right, and it has developped an umbeatable expertise in visual search. For the moment, most of websites (including Shopoon) pretend doing visual search when they just allow users to look at images and select them, whereas the LTU application will allow a more proactive search by uploading a picture to find a match (such as Like.com).

Concerning Yoox, I can't agree more, the most important in online product search is at least to reproduce the same process of choice as offline shopping. But it is even better when it can provide more: I recommend you http://www.blackdogair.com/ which is based on Amazon API: as if you were in Fnac, you select your category, but after that, for each book you click on, the website suggests you related books with a "search tree".

Finally, among the websites you have mentioned, I particularly appreciate eLuxury, as it tackles a real need of finding luxury brands (which more often want to keep an impression of scarcity) without deteriorating brand images.

Hey Fidji,

You're perfectly right to bring a "Back to Skinny Jeans" (http://cravingideas.blogs.com/) atmosphere on Tech IT Easy. We needed that badly.

I love PPR's Shopoon too. I believe it's a great website that deserves a faster take off. When you say it's getting ready to launch a visual app based on LTU, do you mean the French start up that does image recognition & search? It's one of the few survivors the first Internet bubble burst, and I heard it's a really good company.

I think Zlio & Xinek, both founded by very experienced web entrepreneurs (Berrebi & Eskenazi) & marketing experts have lots of potential as well.

Looneo isn't bad either. I predict it will be a huge success actually.

Do you know Yoox? It's one of my favourite eCommerce websites: http://jeremyfain.wordpress.com/2007/01/03/yoox-an-e-commerce-website-reproducing-a-brick-and-mortar-shopping-experience/

And here are the other fashion eCommerce sites I like (since we're back in skinny jeans...) on top of Shopoon & Yoox:

Rush Collection

eLuxury

Blue Fly

NetaPorter

Next

Asos

What do you think of these?
