2 cool websites: LikeBetter & MoreHotter

We were playing the other day with Alain Fortune from Criteo, Julienco & Clauer, with 2 websites: LikeBetter & MoreHotter. :)

Interesting concepts, but any monetization potential? Tell me what you think of it.

  1. Stephen says:

Both do not have a business model. Where is the revenue stream? traffic is pointless if you can’t make money or a significant social contribution which neither of these sites do in my opinion. Here’s what I ask entrepreneurs about the business ideas. “Tell me in one sentence how you make money.” If it involves selling the company, I never invest.

    Cheers

  2. I like the idea of both sites. There are some interesting things happening in the field of (human) image-recognition, on the Google-side and regarding security (captchas). So in some way this can be relevant to someone.

But it’s also an entertainment tool which can become quite addictive. An example is the ESP Game by Luis von Ahn, who’s working for Google (search for his interesting speech on Google Video). And in that sense it could at least try and make money from ads. The guy who only recently launched the very addictive desktop tower defence game is making something like four figures a month now, I read.

To briefly comment on Stephen’s views, I don’t think investment is at this point very relevant. We’re not talking biotech here. I’d say go the ‘Derek Silver’ route, develop a quick prototype and let it run free for a while.

  3. You could also develop interesting partnerships with specific companies aimed finding hot people (e.g. the dating-services I hate so much) and travel-related sites.
