How Web 2.0 startups can get acquired by eBay, MS & Google

Mmm, the title of this post is teasing enough that I guess it’s going to attract quite a crowd. Anyways, here’s the answer: a sine qua non condition to be acquired by EBAY, MSFT or GOOG is basically to at least meet with them. Correct?

If you realize the answer to this question is “yes”, then you’ll probably find yourself interested in meeting with Corporate Development Vice-Presidents of all 3 corporations. Aymeril Hoang, ICT Director @ French Embassy in the Bay Area is organizing such a business trip, a unique opportunity to build a network that will facilitate your exit strategy at some point. More info about here. Nota Bene: French Web 2.0 startups only, sorry about that

PS: Aymeril and his team are instrumental in the success of another Bay Area study trip of which I’m an organizer, which will take place slightly later (more about it soon). Actually, we have even built a partnership with the French Embassy to ensure we will get the very best visits and lecturers.

'Guess who I am' N°9 – easy one?

This one’s easy, really easy. It’s Sunday and I want you to get some good sleep before resuming work tomorrow. As usual, I’ll be glad to get the winner a beer / coffee / Diet Coke whenever I get a buzz from her / him. There you go.

Guess who I am:

- I was born & spent my childhood near Detroit

- At high school as well as College (although surrounded by hard line likes), I was considered a true nerd although not the usual kind of nerd: I was the manager of the basketball team and have always been willing to socialize with people

- My father, an immigrant, used to work at Ford and I’ve always driven Ford cars myself

- At some point, I dropped school

- Revenues of the company I work for have doubled ever since I became its CEO

- My peers say I’m smart and result-driven as well as tough-as-nails and ruthless

- If you add my salary to my stock, I’m probably the highest-paid employee in American history. Despite my considerable wealth, I’ve held to my stocks and live a normal life (for a workaholic) with my kids and wife

- I had already become a multi-billionaire when I suffered an electricity blackout (my operator disconnected us from the network) because I had failed to pay my electric bill, too busy and focused

- I consider myself a founder of the company I’m running

- I have well-developed senses of leadership and humor

- I can be considered a controversial person in some ways

So, are you getting it?

UPDATE> 18:18pm GMT+1 Congratulations to Fabrice Papst, who turned out to be the fastest to think of Steve Ballmer as the person behind today’s ‘Guess Who’ game.
