South By Southwest 2008 rocks!
Hey guys, Vincent here. Over the last few days, I’ve been enjoying the SXSW 2008 line-up of music—an annual tradition, where they release a torrent of free and legal (with some restrictions, I’m sure) independent music every year. It’s a sure way to discover bands that will make it big in a few months to a few years.
You can get the 3.5 GB torrent here and listen to them on the website here. !
Some of my favourite songs so far include:
- “Shooting Star” by Air Traffic
- “Old Song” by AM
- “Indigenous” by The Playing Favorites
- “Track 1″ by Voxhaul Broadcast
What are yours?
Btw. did you know that one of Tech IT Easy’s own, Cecil Dijoux, is an indie-artist? You can find his band’s, Supernormal, myspace-page here.

Hey Vince, many thanks for the traffic !
Saw this SXSW08 on Scobleizer as well, didn’t have a chance to download the whole stuff so far, though.
As far as we’re concerned we’re just working on our new 3 (maybe 4 will depends on the usual work load Vs release date compromise) tracks ep to be published in the next few weeks on our Myspace page. That’s a lot of work (hence no time left to blog) but it sounds very promising so far.
Main track (Nos Vies Electroniques – in english : Our Electronic lives) is inspired by danah boyd work in general and her controversial Viewing American class divisions through Facebook and MySpace essay in particular.
Oh : Mark Richards has kindly given us the permission to use his art work to illustrate our music. Many thanks to him. Check his site, his work is amazing.
Hi Cecil,
It sounds like you really let yourself be inspired by geekiness… I like it! Mark Richards’ art is very cool also.
Can’t wait to hear it, and hope to read more about the production-process and beyond on your blog or here.

[...] whole internet approach seems to work only for major, already known, bands. Hopefully things like SXSW’s massive 4 gig torrent Vincent mentioned earlier are ways to get the internet working for the smaller bands [...]
