Yeah, trying to troubleshoot these HP printers is worse than troubleshooting a computer. My did something and I can not seem to fix it. So it just sits in my corner until I figure out what to do with it.

Well is aw several printers that are used for clothing lines, and the printing quality is really amazing

I also have an HP LaserJet 1100 working, it has printed more than 30,000 pages in its life, and it’s still working like new.

I’m very glad to see that it’s possible to connect it through an usb adapter.

Hello:

I have a HP LaserJet 5P with a Centronics connection, and I would like to connect it to my laptop running Windows XP, but need a USB connector for it to work. Is there a cable out there that will work for this application? What is cost? Where would I have to go to get such a cable?

I’m having the same problem using a VERY old but very faithful HP Laser 3P. Amazing after nearly 20 years this old beast just plugs along producing very clean, albeit low res by todays standards, output. I’ve thrown away several newer printers that failed in that time. I’m also a new convert to the Macbook so I’m actually glad to hear it isn’t just me. I guess at some point I will have to modernize, I just hate the idea of proliferating junk.

Just Googling through looking for clues on why my 1100 dies with the latest Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit. It’s on a Hawkings print server so that isn’t necessarily a fix for whatever CUPS is doing now.

Thanks! Do you know the best part? I could’ve gotten a free printer* with the new computer! (okay, it would’ve been a inkjet and those suck.) (* after a rebate)

I realized this after ordering, which was too late because the limitation of the rebate offer was that both the computer and the (free) printer need to be in the same order. Oh well.

Going for an antiquated printer, when there’s lots of sub-€100 printers around that work just as well, is just the ultimate proof of geekdom in my book.
