		<description>To add: I would even argue that these manufacturers would make their phones drastically more attractive by opening up. More apps + their focus on just producing great hardware = more happy users. So I say, Nokia should go for Android (of course, they stubbornly won&#039;t).</description>

		<description>I agree with you, but you do have to wonder though if, &quot;just because Apple does it,&quot; every single other hardware manufacturer needs to start their own proprietary platform, i.e. re-invent the wheel. Instead, I would prefer if people either pushed for a common platform, or adopted either the Android or Palm OS standard. 

In the long run, it just seems like a lot of R&amp;D and marketing dollars for what is and will continue to be a limited market space (=there are only so many developers and we only need so many apps on a mobile platform).</description>
